Sam is a calligrapher and creative entrepreneur. She works exclusively on calligraphy and lettering projects, writing on an enormous variety of unique surfaces for corporate, commercial, and private clients.
Sam grew up fascinated by art, letters, and language (copying hieroglyphics and brush lettering on trips to Egypt and China), and she has studied traditional calligraphic methods since elementary school. After graduating from NYU with a degree in photography, design, and global visual culture, Sam worked for many years as a photo editor and photographer for a number of editorial publications (including NYLON magazine, DailyCandy, and others).
As an antidote to all the time spent on a computer at her photo editing job, she picked up the analog hobby again and began exploring and refining the minimal, sophisticated, and modern calligraphic style for which she is now known.
Sam officially left desk job life behind in January 2016, and in addition to writing custom pieces on paper and all sorts of unexpected materials, she executes live lettering events for brands, and works on large-scale projects across the country.
Sam is based in the Flatiron neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, and is available for work worldwide.
