WORKSHOPS

Calligraphy is a great antidote to all the time we spend at our computer screens, and it is extremely rewarding to take an evening to slow down and try a new skill. This is not a multi-week-long commitment or full-day intensive with extensive supply lists, it’s an alternative to happy hour. No legible handwriting is necessary, promise. These workshops are a very hands-on experience, with lots of demonstrations and discussion of proper form and tools, but the class size is kept small for individual troubleshooting and to ensure it is a relaxed social experience for everyone.

Once a workshop is scheduled, there will be a date and time specified when the ticket link will be going live.

If you have never worked with a pointed nib before, it is highly recommended you begin with the intro level (no, brush pens don’t count!).

Workshop Type Descriptions

Introduction to Modern Calligraphy

In this 2-hour intro class, you'll learn the basics of modern calligraphy using a traditional nib and ink. Small class size means you can actually see the demos, with lots of hands-on practice time and guided instruction. All supplies are included and yours to take home to continue practicing.

The most popular, and most frequently run, workshop. These sell out quickly!

Advanced Beginner Modern Calligraphy

Build on the foundation created in the intro class, becoming more confident in combining shapes into letterforms. We'll mix colored ink with paint, explore writing on colored and textured papers, and continue to develop your signature calligraphic style. This is the logical next step after the intro class (it picks up where that leaves off!), and is also suitable for those with prior nib-and-ink experience.

Private Workshops

Private workshops for groups (e.g, office groups or corporate retreats, private events or parties, in-store demos, etc.) may be arranged upon request.
